NeuroEd Enrichment Materials
This portion of the website includes materials that complement the core neuroscience educational materials presented above. So that students and teachers can rapidly find content that is suitable for discussion forums, additional in-depth reading, or general introductory neuroscience primers, materials applicable to all of the modules are collected here. These materials are subcategorized into four sections listed below:
Biographies
Sometimes reading about pathways to success can crystallize a student's thoughts about future careers or provide additional background material for a report. In this section we provide 1-2 page biographies of noted neuroscientists, as profiled by the Dana Foundation. Read Biographies.
Ethical Issues
Scientists and ethicists recently coined a new term,"Neuroethics." They use this term to describe the interface between neuroscience and the ethical dilemnas associated with treating or experimenting on the human brain and mind. Resources produced by the Dana Foundation for this exciting new field are compiled in this module. Read Ethical Issues.
Literary Offerings
In addition to providing reviews of great fiction and nonfiction books with a neuroscience theme, this section provides excerpts from the recently published Bard on the Brain, by Paul Matthews and Jeffrey McQuain. This is a book designed to increase understanding of the mind through the art of Shakespeare and the science of brain imaging. Read Literary Offerings.
Additional Resources
We provide general background materials such as neuroanatomical maps and drawings, information on neurotransmitter function, neurophysiology, and molecular biology, as well as several glossaries in this section. Read Additional Resources.
