Cell Phones, Aluminum, Agent Orange: No? Yes? Maybe?
By Mark Parascandola in Cerebrum, Vol 3:1, 2001
Bioethicist Mark Parascandola looks at epidemiology, the science that brings us these warnings and subsequent relief. Epidemiology is a powerful tool for spotting hazards in the environment before the biological mechanisms are known, Parascandola says, and if we grasp what epidemiology can and cannot do, we will not be alarmed by hype or lulled by too many false alarms. We will demand more evidence and more timely assessment of potential hazards to our brains.
